A restaurant in Nassau and a marina on a Family Island have the same underlying problem: the person deciding whether to spend money with you is sitting in Florida or Ontario, comparing you against three alternatives, and has never set foot on the island. They cannot walk past your sign. Everything they will ever know about you before they pay is what loads in their browser.

That puts a load on the site that most local businesses underestimate. It needs to load quickly over an ordinary North American connection, it needs an SSL certificate so the browser does not warn them off, and it needs to be up at the moment they happen to look. Operating across many islands makes physical infrastructure a poor idea and off-island hosting an obviously correct one. A server in your Nassau office is a single point of failure with a hurricane season attached; the same is true of one in Freeport.
